vintage 2022

The tenth

Full of mountain energy, it evokes notes of mixed medicinal herbs such as thyme, marjoram, pine needles, dwarf pine, white moss, boxwood, grapefruit and lime. The contrast with the “true” citrus component is gratifying and engaging. With time in the glass, it opens up and offers memories of chamomile, helichrysum and vetiver. Medium body, concrete and linear structure: it shows grace and a delicate presence combined with a splendid, genuine progression.

The territory

Vin de la Neu was created to break the mold and to create a new category of wines: unique, different, and with significant evolutionary potential.

To realize this ambition, Nicola Biasi decided to bring back quality viticulture to an area that is today given over to apples, but which was once an ideal place to plant vines.

Home to this project is the Valle di Non, in the Trentino Dolomites…

The vineyard

In 2012, Nicola Biasi decided to put his ambitious project into practice by uprooting the apple trees from the family orchard and planting the cryptogram-resistant Johanniter cultivar,

a white grape variety created in 1968 at the Freiburg State Institute of Viticulture in Germany.

This innovative – and risky – experiment immediately bore fruit, resulting in a splendid wine that has reaped numerous successes and awakened unique emotions…

The cellar

The use of non-vitrified cement tanks for the first stages of vinification and the lengthy élevage in French oak barriques brings out all the quality potential of the grapes to the full.

The attention paid to the bottle is the final touch.

The tall flute shape perfectly reflects the elegant, slim-bodied wine it contains, while the label depicts the outline of the mountains that encircle the vineyard…

Resistenti Nicola Biasi Wines

This project is driven by a desire to show how today’s knowledge and science allow us to produce wines at different altitudes and with different exposures compared to the past.

The main aim is to practice a truly sustainable approach to viticulture and enology that does not in any way disturb the balance of the ecosystem the vineyard is part of.

The study of resistant varieties is undoubtedly an important step forward towards modern viticulture: the agronomic characteristics of these types of vine are now widely recognized, and mark a promising step towards increasing respect for the environment…
